THAT'S THE BEAUTY of watercolor painting. Every layer creates a new range of colors and density. I start painting the lightest colors first, because when I add more pigment, each layer becomes either darker, creating shadows, or a different color, because putting two transparent colors over each other creates a new color. This combination of additional pigment and different colors give watercolor it's beautiful, unpredictable nature. It's what I love most about watercolor painting. You can have a certain extent of control, until the flow and liquidity take it's own course.
